Swapnil had gone to a restaurant on Wardha Road on Saturday night with three friends in his car (MH-49/CD-9412) for dinner. After dining, they left to return to Nagpur around 3.30 am. Swapnil needed to take a U-Turn at the Jamtha T-Point, while the container truck, driven by Ramlal (KA-41/D-4415), also had to make a U-Turn towards Wardha. Both vehicles were waiting at the turn for the way to clear when the driver of the cement mixer truck (T S-22/T-9423), came towards Nagpur and collided forcefully with the front of the container.

The impact was so severe that the cabin of the container was uprooted. The cement mixer truck then went out of control and overturned onto Swapnil’s car, which was at the opposite end of the truck. The truck landed on the bonnet of the car. Swapnil and his friends escaped with minor injuries. There was a traffic jam on Wardha Road following the incident. On being informed, Hingna Police arrived at the scene.

Ramlal and the injured driver of the cement mixer truck were sent to AIIMS hospital for treatment, but Ramlal died during treatment. Removing the vehicles from the road after the accident proved to be very difficult, as both trucks were heavily loaded. Even after employing two cranes, the trucks would not budge. After considerable effort, the vehicles were finally removed from the road, but it took several hours, which affected traffic on Wardha Road.

The police have registered a case against the driver of the cement mixer truck, but he has not yet been identified due to his injuries.
