Nagpur: On the occasion of World Heart Day, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the Social Media Platform of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS). The inauguration, held virtually on zoom, was attended by cardiac surgeons across the country.
The Social Media Platform marks a significant milestone in the journey towards expanding heart health awareness and aims to communicate medical expertise and medical perspectives from preventive steps to varied treatments available, to benefit patients through knowledge sharing. The platform shall also serve with better connectivity among the medical fraternity.

Delivering the inaugural remarks, the Union Minister Gadkari stressed on the significance of teaching the masses on preventive measures. He proudly remarked that Indian doctors are reputed across the world, and encouraged the medical fraternity to have an Indian solution for every remedy, at reasonable costs.
Dr Satyajit Bose, Junior Vice President, under whose leadership the IACTS social media platform shall serve as a beacon and play a pivotal role in quality healthcare, opined that the theme “Strong Hearts, Calmer Minds” resonates deeply with the purpose of the initiative: To make profound decisions regarding heart health and educate the masses on how to prevent heart diseases.
Dr Manoj Durairaj, the IACTS President, envisioned that by launching the social media platform the achievements of the Indian cardiac surgeons will be showcased on the world stage. He further added that the platform will be utilized to educate doctors and the public at large, and will help in handholding patients in their journey towards health.
Dr Anand Sancheti, Past President of IACTS, extended support in making the ceremony a reality and the inaugural event was attended by all the IACTS executive members, life/fellow and associate members.
This launch marks a significant platform, as every heartbeat matters, and so the decisive march is towards a healthier, heart-conscious India.

On this day which marks the beginning of better communication related to heart health, we intend to reach out to the general public and be decisive in ensuring better healthcare through awareness,” said Dr C.
