Nagpur: Ten cows were crushed to death and 15 injured after being hit by a speeding truck in the Sati Mai area of Besur village in Bhiwapur Tehsil of Nagpur district on Sunday.
According to police, the incident occurred around 9.45 am. The truck (MH-31/CD-5842) was transporting coal from Umred to Hinganghat. Meanwhile, a cowherd from Besur was taking cows to graze when the speeding truck lost control and crashed into the cows. As a result, ten cows died on the spot, and fifteen were injured.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police and local villagers rushed to the scene. The angry citizens blocked the road for four hours and all traffic on the Hinganghat-Umred road was halted. They demanded compensation for the loss of the cows and stated they will not leave the area until their demands are met. Former MLAs Sudhir Parve and Raju Parve, social activist Sanjay Meshram, police officers visited the scene.
