Inauguration of the 64th Year Celebration of Durga Puja at Bengali Cultural Society, Katol Road
Nagpur, 8th October 2024: The 64th Year Celebration of Durga Puja, organised by the Bengali Cultural Society, Katol Road, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and devotion by Dr. Vipin Itankar, Collector of Nagpur, in a vibrant ceremony held at the society grounds at 8:00 PM today.

The program began with a warm reception for Dr. Itankar, who was greeted with a floral bouquet by Shri Vijay Ramani, President of the Puja Committee. The stunningly decorated pandal, adorned with intricate artwork and a magnificent Durga idol, left a lasting impression on all present, receiving high commendation from the Chief Guest.

In his address to the gathering, Dr. Itankar lauded the Puja Committee for organising such a grand and culturally rich celebration, despite the challenges posed by the recent heavy rainfall, which he described as a sign of good fortune for the event. He also praised the artistic craftsmanship displayed in the idol and the pandal, noting that it beautifully captured the essence of Bengal’s cultural heritage.
Taking advantage of the occasion, Dr. Itankar encouraged the community to participate in the upcoming Maharashtra elections actively, stressing the significance of exercising their democratic right to vote. He emphasised the importance of civic engagement in shaping a prosperous and inclusive society.

As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, the Bengali Cultural Society also significantly contributed to Ekal Gram Sangathanas. During the event, a cheque of Rs. 22,000 was presented to adopt a school for one year to support the education and development of underprivileged children in rural areas. This initiative underscores the society’s dedication to cultural preservation, community welfare, and educational upliftment.

The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished members of the society, including Shri Vijay Ramani, Shri Tarit Chakraborty, Shri Ranjan Sahay, Shri Dipak Shom, Shri Swapan Chakraborty, Shri Salil Samanta, Dr. Amit B. Dutta, and other committee members, all of whom played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this year’s celebrations.
