Nagpur: The Nagpur unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused Narendra Jichkar, owner of Garuda Company, of being an offender for demolishing the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Hall in Ambazari Garden. AAP alleged that Jichkar pushed Yash Gaorkhede forward to reclaim Ambazari Garden. The party stated that followers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar would never forgive Jichkar for his actions. Furthermore, AAP exposed alleged scams involving Jichkar and his wife in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

In a press release, the Aam Aadmi Party highlighted several scams that have been taking place in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). Some of the key points mentioned were:
• Cooler Scam: The AAP noted that corruption and scams have been prevalent in the NMC for several years, yet no action has been taken against those involved in last year’s cooler scam.
• Substandard Materials in Gutter Covers: The party claimed that cement covers placed on gutters throughout Nagpur city were made using inferior quality materials. These covers are now broken in several places, and despite repeated complaints to the NMC, no action has been taken against the responsible contractor.
• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Demolition: The AAP specifically accused Narendra Purushottam Jichkar, owner of Garuda Company, of demolishing the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial in Ambazari. Additionally, it pointed out that Jichkar’s wife, Dr. Shilpa Jichkar, currently serves as the City TB Officer in the NMC.
The AAP said as per Section 59 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, if a spouse of an NMC official or employee has any interest or stake in a contract with the NMC, the concerned official or employee must be immediately dismissed from service. Despite this clear rule, the NMC has made payments totalling Rs 60 crore to Narendra Jichkar, owner of Anjani Krupa Logistics Private Limited, over the past 12 years.
AAP provided further evidence by stating that Narendra Jichkar’s Director Identification Number (DIN) is 03045544, and Anjani Krupa Logistics Private Limited’s Company Identification Number (CIN) is U74999MH2016PTC285282. Despite the evidence, the NMC has been awarding contracts for pothole repairs using jet patcher machines to Anjani Krupa Logistics Private Limited for many years.
AAP’s State Organising Secretary, Bhushan Dhakulkar, issued a stern warning, demanding that appropriate action be taken against the offenders at the earliest. If the NMC fails to act, AAP threatened to launch an intense protest against the Municipal Corporation.
