Nagpur: In its latest list of candidates for State Assembly polls to be held on November 20, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) (Sharad Pawar) reposed faith in loyalist Rameshchandra Bang by fielding him from Hingna. Bang will take on BJP’s Sameer Meghe.
The party has fielded Atul Wandile from Hinganghat. Bharatiya Janata Party suffered a setback as Gyayak Patni, son of party’s three-time MLA late Rajendra Patni joined NCP (SP). NCP (SP) announced the name of Gyayak from Karanja, his father’s traditional constituency.
A BJP loyalist Rajendra Patni was fielded by BJP in 2004, 2014 and 2019 in Assembly elections from Karanja which he won. Joining of NCP (SP) by Gyayak Patni, son of Rajendra Patni, shocked everyone. He was welcomed with his supporters at Mumbai in NCP fold by its Supremo Sharad Pawar, State President Jayant Patil, and Working President Supriya Sule. Gyayak was accompanied by BJP leaders from the Washim district, members of Karanja Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti.
Atul Wandile, whom NCP fielded from Hinganghat, was earlier with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Local leaders and workers of NCP (SP) staking claim for their candidature expressed disappointment over the declaration of name of Wandile. According to people, this resentment will reflect during voting.
