IMD predicts rise in temperature in Nagpur, Vidarbha in coming days

Weather Man expects one more spell of chill in 2nd half of February

Nagpur: The maximum and minimum temperature in Nagpur and other towns of Vidarbha region is increasing day-by-day, causing discomfort during day time for many. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted that the day and night temperatures both will increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the next 3-4 days all over Vidarbha.

The temperature in Vidarbha started increasing after January 14 and it settled around 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal. In the first half of January, the maximum temperature settled around 29-31 degrees Celsius all over Vidarbha and in the second half, it touched the 34.0 degrees Celsius mark in some parts. Similarly, in the first half of January, the minimum temperature was around 11-13 degrees Celsius mark and it crossed 14.0 degrees Celsius after January 14.

Despite an increase in maximum and minimum temperatures in the region, the Weather Department is expecting one more spell of cold weather in the second half of February. On Tuesday, Akola recorded the highest maximum temperature with 35.5 degrees Celsius followed by Brahmapuri with 35.1 degrees Celsius. Normally, Vidarbha witnesses the 35.0 degrees Celsius mark in March, but this year, it has already crossed in January.

Yavatmal (34.5 degrees Celsius), Wardha (34.0 degrees Celsius), Amravati (34.0 degrees Celsius) and Buldhana (34.0 degrees Celsius) touched the 34 degrees mark on Tuesday, whereas Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia were below 33.0 degrees Celsius. Temperature in Vidarbha was 2-4 degrees Celsius above normal and it will increase in the coming days.

The minimum temperature is also on the higher side all over Vidarbha as Washim recorded the hottest night on Tuesday with 19.6 degrees Celsius. Yavatmal (16.6 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (16.6 degrees Celsius) and Akola (16.5 degrees Celsius) were above 16 degrees. Amravati, Bhandara, Brahmapuri, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Gondia andWardha recorded the minimum temperature above 14 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

With 19.6 degrees Celsius, Washim recorded the minimum temperature 4.1 degrees Celsius above normal. Other cities also recorded the minimum above normal.
