Nagpur: Panic gripped the Shanti Nagar area after two criminal brothers brutally killed their rival, also a history-sheeter, in broad daylight over a petty ₹300 dispute on Sunday afternoon in Nagpur. The brazen murder left locals in shock.
The victim, Shubham Harne (30) of Kawrapeth, was allegedly attacked and killed by Prayag Asole (28) and his younger brother Akshay (26), both also residents of Kawrapeth. The police swiftly arrested the accused and booked them for murder. Further investigations are underway.
According to the police, Shubham and Prayag were close friends and frequently consumed ganja and alcohol together. The incident was the result of an altercation two days prior, during which Shubham reportedly abused and assaulted Akshay. Akshay had purchased a t-shirt online for Rs 300 on Friday. Finding it didn’t fit, he offered it to Shubham. The t-shirt fit Shubham, and he took it. When Akshay asked for the Rs 300, Shubham initially refused. When Akshay persisted, Shubham threw the money at him. Akshay got angered and abused him. Shubham then slapped Akshay and walked away.
Upon learning of the incident, Prayag became enraged. On Sunday morning, he went to Shubham’s house and invited him for a “discussion.” Unsuspecting of Prayag’s intentions, Shubham accompanied him. The two went to Kawrapeth flyover, where a confrontation ensued regarding the previous altercation with Akshay. The argument escalated into a physical fight, during which Prayag pulled out a cutter and stabbed Shubham in the neck. Shubham collapsed, bleeding profusely.
The Asole brothers fled the scene after the murder. Shanti Nagar police rsrushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. The body was transported to Mayo Hospital for autopsy.
A murder case has been registered, and both accused have been arrested. A senior police official stated that Shubham, Prayag, and Akshay have criminal records, with bodily offenses registered against them at various police stations.
