Nagpur on IS hit list; Info keeps city cops on toes!

 A startling revelation by a youth arrested from Parbhani has sent Nagpur police and city’s security intelligence on toes. The youth named as Mohammed Shahid Mohd Kadir Ali Khan suspected as IS operative was arrested with 1 kg improvised explosive device and two bombs, informed that his organisation had planned terrorist attack on Eid and also Nagpur, Aurangabad and Hyderabad has been in their hit list. However, the plan was called off due to heavy security arrangments, he revealed.

A suspect, Naserbin Abubkar Chaus, arrested earlier in Mumbai had confessed to the Kalachowki (Mumbai) police in PCR that he along with his accomplice Mohammed Shahid khan had made IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in Parbhani, according to a release by the ATS.

Mohammed Shahid khan also confessed to have worked with Chaus. He handed over the sample of IED hidden in Parbhani to the ATS. Sources said that the sample seized by the ATS has been sent to the forensic lab for further examination.

Shahid was arrested from Parbhani district by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Sunday at around 10.20 pm from Gulghumat (Kadrabad plot) in Parbhani city in connection with suspected ISIS links in Marathwada region. He was sent to Aurangabad on Sunday afternoon around 2.

The ATS is also probing his suspected connections with global terror outfit Islamic State. Earlier, one youth was also nabbed in Parbhani by the ATS a week ago.

The ATS had kept a close eye on the terror activities in the city for the last week. Some youths were on the ATS radar. Finally, the squad initiated action against one of them and nabbed the terrorist suspect. The ATS comprised squads from Nanded and Mumbai.
