SNDL’s cable burst causes damage to 700 mm feeder line
Nagpur: OCW lodged police complaint against SNDL after a 33KVA cable of SNDL burst near Hanuman Temple Pardi Sq. melting the 700mm water pipe which hampered the supply of Pardi 1&2 command areas on July 21 and 22, 2016.
The total cost of the damage caused due to the burst is close to Rs 5 Lakhs.
Taking into account the fact that the 33KVA cable is passing close to the 700mm Feeder Main, it may cause similar damages in future too.
On July 24, afternoon OCW Zonal Head Rajeev Singh (Lakadganj Zone) lodged written complaint against SNDL at Kalamana Police Station.
It was mentioned in the complaint that the 33KVA cable of SNDL was burst near Hanuman Temple Pardi Sq. ,the water pipe (700 mm ) melted and punctured due to cable burst and water supply to Pardi 1 and 2 ESR was hampered due to water leakage on 21/7/2016 and 22/7/2016 . The leakage was repaired on priority. Total loss worth Rs 5 Lakh was caused due to leakage .
Also it was mentioned in the complaint that in future such cable burst incidence may again damage pipe line as the 33 KVA cable is passing very close to 700 mm dia feeder line which is rarest of rare case.
Further, OCW has already communicated to SNDL about the leakage repairing work.
It is fact that OCW is also creating trenches and pits for rehabilitation work (24X7 project) and leakages plugging work on existing water supply system, however during such work OCW is taking all necessary safety precautions like information to other public utilities , installation of OCW barricades, safety tapes, display boards clearly mentioning that work is carried out jointly by NMC and Orange City Water (OCW) for 24X7 project or for operation and maintenance work.
It must be mentioned here that OCW repaired the leakage on priority so that the citizens need not to suffer.
