Nagpur: “You are the teachers of poor and downtrodden students. You should keep in mind that you are not teachers of renowned schools. It is a golden opportunity for you to find newer and newer ideas out of books for ensuring qualitative and quantitative education in NMC schools. Focus more on students. Boost quality of education for achieving 100 percent results,” the Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar exhorted teachers of the local body while addressing a workshop organized by Education Department of NMC here on Thursday.
The workshop for NMC teachers was held at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Civil Lines. Other dignitaries seated on dais include Deputy Mayor Satish Holay, Education Committee Chairman Gopal Bohre, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ranjana Lade, Education Officer Farooq Ahmed Khan, Assistant Education Officer Meena Gupta, NMC Teachers Association President Rajesh Gavre, Secretary Devrao Madaskar, Treasurer Malvinder Kaur Lamba.
Hardikar further said that communication should be from bottom of heart. “I work in administration. Experience teaches a lot.
Mould the students passionately. Every parent dreams of educating his or her child in a good English medium school. A well educated person can make a good progress. It is the moral responsibility of every teacher that not a single student should be a school dropout. If a student remains absent for three consecutive days then inform parents, seek feedback. The teachers should have contact with a student’s house too for preparing a report card on various aspects. Teachers should ensure allround development of a student’s personality. A student should have interest in studies as well as sports activities. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar received good education hence he became a gigantic personality. He is our ideal. Similarly, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, Maharshi Karvey are our inspirations,” the Municipal Commissioner state.
The Deputy Mayor Satish Holay, Education Committee Chairman Gopal Bohre, Rajesh gavre and others also expressed their views. At the outset, the dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp and garlanded the portrait of Goddess Saraswati to mark inauguration of the workshop. A large number of headmasters, headmistresses, teachers of different NMC schools were present at the workshop.
