Dengue on the rise in Nagpur, 33 cases so far

Nagpur: With Nagpur becoming the mixed weather zone, where at one time you experience rains and extreme heat and humidity at the other, a conducive atmosphere is build for health symptoms like cough, cold and fever. And the most worrying trend in the city is rise of dengue. About 33 dengue patients were detected in the Nagpur in last 25 days, thanks to the rise in mosquitoes being bred on stagnant water.

These numbers are registered in the malaria and fileria department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). And these numbers could rise in the coming days. The mosquitoes start spreading their wings during the evening time.
However, the number of dengue patients this year are less compared to last year. Last year 230 patients were detected with dengue, while this year 89 patients have been detected with dengue till now. And none of these patients have succumbed to the disease, claimed malaria and fileria department of NMC.

Besides, NMC had undertaken survey of homes and schools to inspect dengue larvae breeding. However, NMC is not effectively conducting fogging and spraying insecticide to control the spread of mosquitoes.

While, NMC is claiming that the dengue menace is under control, but according to information the number of dengue patients in city hospital are rising and some patients have also died of the disease. However, NMC is not relating these deaths to dengue deaths.
