Nagpur: It’s merry time for bank employees and, torrid time for customers, as banks will remain closed for the five days on the trot in most parts of the country between October 8 and October 12, thanks to the coinciding dates of the list of holidays.
This long closure is likely to hit some banking services. ATM users might be forced to plan withdrawals as ATMs usually run dry within two days after cash infusion. However, banks have assured that the ATMs will be refilled at regular intervals during the holiday period.
Here is the list of Holidays:
- October 8: Second Saturday
- October 9: Sunday
- October 10: Navami
- October 11: Dussehra
- October 12: Muharram
But the October 13, when banks will open after the 5-day holiday, does not assure of a hassle-free day for the customers. Customers will throng the banks for their different transactions in hordes and the rush is likely to create “unprecedented delays”. Moreover, the employees will also take their own time to “recover” from the “pleasant time” they spent with 5-day holiday.
