New Delhi: Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes to be soon withdrawn from circulation (“chalamanthi 500 -1000 ni note nabut karva nirnay”) was a prominent headline in Gujarati newspaper ‘Akila’ not on 9th November when rest of India read this but on 1st April 2016 – seven months ago!!
Not only did they get this right, they also advised its readers to change their 500 and 1000 notes for 100 or less by 1st June 2016. Because, as they said, the announcement could come any time after that.
They also wrote that Modi was doing this to bring out black money stored with people and fight corruption. Other matter published is also uncannily similar to instruction received from RBI now.
So how did this come about?
The newspaper has a ready reply – it was 1st April and we were playing an April Fool joke on our readers!
But we think, the reporter or the Editor of this newspaper has paranormal powers and could do time travel and read exactly what was going to happen.
Because they also wrote about Rs. 2000/ amount notes being allowed to be changed per day and other such provisions being applied today.
The question to now ask is – was April fool joke played on Gujarathis that day or is it being played on the rest of India now?
