Maratha Reservation : HC directs state govt to clear its stand by Jan 30

mumbai-high-court
Mumbai/Nagpur:
The Bombay High Court has on Wednesday directed all parties including the Maharashtra government to clear their stand on reservation for the Marathas by January 30 so it can commence hearing petitions regarding the issue.
The court is hearing a bunch of petitions both in support and against the 2014 decision of the previous NCP-Congress government to give 16 per cent reservation to the Maratha community in government jobs and education.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Sports & Youth Welfare and Cultural Affairs, Minorities Development Department Vinod Tawde issued a press release clarifying that the High Court has not pulled up the government for lacking on any count. This is a canard being spread by some mischievous elements, he added.
