Nagpur: The Crime Branch on the midnight of Saturday foiled a dacoity plan in Mecosabagh area, Jaripatka by arresting three robbers in the nick of time. Two other miscreants managed to escape the spot and are being hunted.
A patrolling team of Crime Branch led by Police Constable Prakash Sidam received information at about 0030 hours of Saturday that a gang of five suspicious persons had gathered in the compound of Pride Methodist School in Mecosabagh.
Acting swiftly, the cops rushed to the spot and surrounded the gang. Noticing the approaching policemen, the five members of the gang tried to flee the spot but were chased by the cops. The Crime Branch team succeeded in nabbing three accused namely Kamalesh Babulal Palewar (19) of Sweeper Colony, Chhota Indora, Sikandar alias Sheiku Shafiq Khan (28) of Mecosabagh Sindhi Colony and Sheikh Kalim Sheikh Munir (35) of Hasanbagh.
Two other robbers Santosh and Sheshrao managed to escape. Upon frisking, cops seized a knife, nylon rope, torch, chili power packet, and other stuff likely to be used in the dacoity.
Jaripatka police have booked the three arrested accused under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 4+1 of Arms Act and hunting the absconding two other accused.
