Nagpur: Electric rickshaws or e-rickshaws or battery-operated rickshaws dotting the streets now-a-days in the Second Capital City of Nagpur are turning out to be useful more ways than one. The e-rickshaws have become a popular transport mode in the city as an alternative to auto rickshaws because of their low fuel cost, and less human effort compared to pulled rickshaws. They are being widely accepted as an alternative to petrol/diesel auto rickshaws that poison the environment by emitting toxic gases.
However, many citizens might have not aware of other use of the so-called popular e-rickshaws. Many onlookers on Saturday morning were left amused when they witnessed an e-rickshaw being used for transporting a herd of goats in the Bakramandi located in Central Nagpur.
The e-rickshaws are turning out to be popular mode of transporting goats from Bakramandi to other destinations (slaughterhouses) of the city. And why not? It is cheaper, non-polluting and easily accessible transport mode. Moreover, the owner earns an easy and ‘handsome’ money as the ‘customers’ are a regular frequenters!
