Nagpur: The mastermind of the Nagpur University’s revaluation and fake degree scam Yadav Kohchade died on Thursday. Kohchade, who was convicted and lodged in Nagpur Central Jail, fainted around 3 pm. He was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital by the jail employees. He was pronounced dead by the doctors at about 4 pm. His body has been sent to mortuary for post-mortem.
The autopsy report could reveal the exact cause of death.

The murky scam came to the light in 1999. The scam had brought disgrace to the university to such an extent that reputed organisations both from India and abroad started rejecting students from the varsity. This forced radical reforms in the university examination system. Kohchade, along with a number of others, was convicted in 2006, for his role in tampering with marks and issuing fake mark-sheets to beneficiaries. The kingpin, with the help of a number of University employees and agents, made a mockery of the examination system and went against the rules of the university. He rubbished all university norms and ran the racket of issuing bogus degrees and fake mark-sheets to students.
