Nagpur: Seventeen teachers of RTM Nagpur University were felicitated on the occasion of Teacher’s Day in an event organised by the university at Gurunanak Bhawan. Vikas Mahatme, Rajya Sabha M.P., Dr. Siddhartha Vinayak Kane, Registrar, Pramod Yavle, Deputy Registrar and Pooranchandra Meshram, Vice Chancellor were present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahatme expressed his thoughts on teaching and learning. “I still consider myself a student. It is not of much importance what a teacher has taught rather what matters is what the students have learnt”, he said. “There must be coordination between students and teachers considering each other’s expectations”, he added.
Mahatme, during his speech, also insisted on the fact that in present time, experience holds more value than a degree. Dr. Kane also addressed the event and stated the importance of teacher in the entire education system. “A teacher is the backbone of education”, he said.
Around seventeen teachers were awarded for their excellence in various feilds of education.
