NMC gesture: Senior citizens get 50% concession in city bus fares


Nagpur: In a grand gesture, Nagpur MunicipalCorporation (NMC) has started extending 50 percent concession in fares to senior citizens in Aapli Bus services in city.

The Mayor Nanda Jichkar and Transport Committee Chairman Jitendra (Bunty) Kukde launched ‘Atal Behari Jyeshtha Nagarik Savlat Yojana’ by giving 50 per cent concession in bus tickets to two senior citizens Krishnarao Khandale andPramod Anjankar. The senior citizens willing to avail the 50 percent concession in bus fares will have to produce identity cards such as Aadhar Card, voter card, driving license, passport etc.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Bus Operators jointly undertook cleanliness drive at bus stands in city on Gandhi Jayanti as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Mayor Jichkar and Bunty Kukde kicked off the drive. The drivers, conductors, directors, Corporators performed Shramdaan for cleaning the bus stations and buses. The Transport Committee has appointed five teams for cleaning 158 bus stations in the city, informed Shivajirao Jagtap, Transport Manager of Aapli Bus services.

The Mayor wielded a broom and started the cleanliness drive at Bus Stand near Maharajbagh.

Others who were present on the occasion include Archana Pathak, member of the Transport Committee, PRO Ashok Kolhatkar, Assistant PRO Pradeep Khardenavis, Administrative Officer Ravindra Pagey, Arun Pipurde, Prabha Bokhare, Girish Mahajan and a large number of Aapli Bus employees.
