Nagpur: “Players participating in any sporting event should display their sportsman spirit and skills as just winning is not important factor,” asserted the State Energy and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule after inaugurating the State-level Athletics Tournament here on Saturday.
Bawankule lit the flame to mark the opening of the State-level athletics tournament being held at Divisional Sports Complex at Mankapur. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Vice-Chairman of NMC’s Sports Committee Pramod Tabhane, Sports Deputy Director Rewatkar, District Sports Officer Avinash Pund, Corporators Sanjay Bangale, Rupa rai, Nishant Gandhi and others.
Over 2000 students coming from different districts participated in various events. “Sportspersons displaying their skills should not hold ill-will against the opponents. The Government is encouraging sportspersons in many ways. Many wrestlers have been given high-ranking jobs in police department. The power companies accord priority in jobs for sportspersons.

The winners of various events were presented with medals at the hands of Bawankule. Aruna Gandhe proposed a vote of thanks.
The various sporting events including disc throw, race, long jump, triple jump, hurdle race, hammer throw, etc were participated by students in the age group of 14 to 19 years.
