Nagpur: National Safety Week was observed in Maha Metro Nagpur today. This week is observed to promote awareness on Occupational Health and Safety, between 4th and 10th March every year. This event is being promoted by National Safety Council of India, an independent body set up by Ministry of Labour, Government of India.
The event held at Metro House, Civil Lines today started with Safety Week inauguration. Director (Projects) Mahesh Kumar inaugurated the Safety week by hoisting Safety Flag, in presence of Director (Rolling Stock & Systems) Sunil Mathur, Project Director (General Consultants) Mohammad Hasan Zazou and other senior officials.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message (Man Ki Baat) on Safety was broadcast to attendees as part of the event. `Metro Safety Hero’ awards, `Safety Quiz’ competition winners, `Defensive Driver’ awards and Team award for `Quick Response Team’ were presented during the event, to reinforce the positive safety behaviour. The winners were felicitated at the hands of Mahesh Kumar and Sunil Mathur.
All those present, were administered safety pledge. Various activities like awareness programs, competitions, Safety Skits are planned during this week across the various project sites to promote safety measures. The function was conducted by Chief Safety Expert (General Consultant) Swamynathan Subramanian. Senior officials and other staff of Nagpur Metro Rail Project were present on the occasion.
