Nagpur: Tension spread at Chichbhavan on Wardha road after a speeding four-wheeler knocked down an eighth standard student and dragged him to nearly 20 feet causing his death on Sunday evening. Enraged over the incident, eye-witness and passers-by pelted stones, vandalized the four-wheeler and also set it on fire.
The traffic on the busy Wardha road was brought to halt for two hours unless city police and traffic police rushed and control the situation.
Sonu Kale, a resident of Chinchbhavan, was crossing the road when a speeding four-wheeler hit him. Eye-witnesses informed that despite of hitting the minor, the accused driver couldn’t control the speed limit and dragged him to nearly 20 feet away, causing his death.
Kale, 13, was having his paper on Monday. He had gone to meet his friend staying nearby and was walking home when the horrifying mishap took place.
Kale leaves behind two siblings and a widow mother.
Angered over the rash driving by accused driver, nearby people rushed to catch him but he managed to gave a slip. Thus, people burnt tyres, pelted stones.
Residents demanded speed breaker and over bridge on the accident spot. SOnegaon police has registered a case against the driver.
