Dia mirza, CM Devendra Fadnavis, Afroz Shah feature in top 10 global plastic pollution influencers list

Mumbai: A few days after Afroz Shah and his team safely escorted Olive Ridley turtles to the sea, the stellar work done by him has made him a global influencer on tackling plastic pollution. Afroz Shah is the fourth most influential voice in the world on plastic pollution according to international portal onalytica.com.

And he isn’t the only one. Two other Indians, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Bollywood star Dia Mirza are also in the top 10. In fact, the Chief Minister is second only to the head of the United Nations environment body, Erik Solheim.

The Maharashtra government recently imposed a complete ban on plastic bags and thermocol cutlery, becoming the 18th state of the country to impose such a ban.

Actor Dia Mirza has been vocal with her support to environmental causes, be it plastics, pollution on the beaches of Mumbai or animal conservation. It can be recalled how Dia, along with her friends, took up the responsibility of cleaning the beaches and make it pollution free.

While activist Afroz Shah is on the fourth position, his team of volunteers who clean-up Versova Beach have also found a place in the top 50 organisations across the globe that have influenced the discussion and debate around plastic pollution. Versova beach stands on the 44th position.
