Nagpur/Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities in the State CH. Vidyasagar Rao today appointed Dr Mrunalini Milind Fadnavis as the new Vice Chancellor of the Solapur University. She is presently serving as the Principal of Mahila Mahavidyalaya Nagpur.
Dr Fadnavis has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for a period of 5 years or till her attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
She succeeds Dr N N Maldar, whose term ended on 10th December 2017. Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor of the Savitribai Phule Pune University was holding additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor.
Dr Mrunalini Fadnavis obtained Master of Art in Economics and also Econometrics, and further secured her Ph.D. from the Dr Hari Singh Gaur University, Sagar. She has vast and varied experience in teaching, research and administration.
The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Justice P. Venkatarama Reddi, Retired Judge, Supreme Court of India to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment as Vice Chancellor of the Solapur University.
Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Director, Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, Rajasthan and Praveen Pardeshi, Additional Chief Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office were other members of the Committee.
