Nandanvan cops nab notorious robber

Nagpur: Nandanvan police have arrested a notorious robber involved in many cases and seized three stolen motorcycles from his possession.The cops were investigating a case in which a 50-year old woman Laxmi Anilprakash Arya (50), resident of Flat No. 106, Sukhsagar Building, East Wardhaman Nagar, was relieved of her handbag by a bike-borne goon around 5 pm on June 1, 2018. During the probe, cops received secret inputs on June 9 that a suspicious youth was trying to sell a stolen Vivo company’s mobile phone at Kumbhartoli Square.

Acting on the tip-off, cops laid a trap and waited for the accused youth. Around 6.30 pm, the cops spotted the youth and detained him. On being interrogated, the accused gave his name as Rohan alias Yeda Satish Rangari (21), resident of Old Bagadganj Kumbhartoli, behind Sheelgandh Bouddha Vihar. Cops frisked him and found a Vivo company’s mobile phone in his trouser pocket. When questioned about the cell phone, the accused Rohan Rangari fumbled and tried to mislead the cops.

However, when subjected to intense questioning, Rohan confessed stealing a handbag of a woman in Deshpande Layout 8-10 days ago and the mobile phone was in the bag. Cops placed him under arrest and seized the mobile phone.

The arrested accused was produced in a court and two-day police custody was procured. During custodial interrogation, the accused Rohan Rangari confessed his role in many robbing cases. Subsequently, cops seized a Hero Honda motorcycle (MH-31/CD 5583) worth Rs 35,000, a Bajaj Discover (MH-40/S 7888), TVS bike (MH-31/BW 9857) and the Vivo mobile phone collectively worth Rs 70,000 from Rohan’s possession.
