While city police is facing the brunt of accusation from every department of the society, a constable fought three thieves and finally nabbed them on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police said, three thieves stole a gold ring, mobile phone and some cash collectively worth Rs 7,650 from the possession of one Deepak Pathrabe (42), a resident of Bhivsankhori, Chintaman Nagar, when he was returning from his duty on his bicycle. The thieves grabbed him near Dabha Road, Gautam Nagar, and threatened him on knife point and stole the booty. Deepak rushed to Gittikahdan police station who informed police headquarters about the incidence. Police patrolling parties were alerted.
After getting information through wireless, a constable on patrolling duty in Pratap Nagar area, found three youths in suspicious condition. On investigations, the goons got on guards and started beating the constable Madhukar Bhaushingh Thakur (28). The constable soon overpowered the goons and finally arrested them. The accused have been identified as Monu alias Jaspalsingh Ranjitsingh Sanduria (25), a resident of Punjabi Line, Indora; Swapnil Anand Patil (20) and Devendra Bhimrao Godbole (22), a resident of Jaripatka.
Police recovered a knife from their possession and have registered an offence under relevant sections of IPC.
