Supreme Court slams Bihar government over its failure to file correct first information report in Muzaffarpur shelter home abuse case and gives 24 hours to it add charges under Section 377 (sodomy) of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Children for Sexual Offences Act in the FIR.

“If we find that there were offences under Section 377 of the IPC and POCSO Act and you did not register FIR, we will pass an order against the government,” the SC said.

The SC asked counsel appearing for the Central Bureau of Investigation to take instruction if the agency can investigate the cases relating to sexual assault in nine out of 17 shelter homes in Bihar named in the Tata Institute of Social Sciences report.
