Nagpur: An anonymous miscreant attacked a 59-year-old man and a woman with an axe near Sonu Monu Company, Service Road on Jabalpur Highway road and robbed away the cash and ornaments to the tune of Rs 24,500 from their possession. The incident happened under Kalamna police on Thursday night.
Police sources said the complainant Hanuman Udaybhan Sondiya (59) resident of Plot. No. 26, Sant Tukaram Nagar was riding a moped with Sujata Borkar resident of Gangabai Ghat as pillion. At around 8 pm, the duo was passing Sonu Monu Company, service road on Jabalpur highway, when an unidentified man suddenly came across them.
As a result, complainant lost control on the vehicle and the duo fell on the road. Subsequently, the unidentified accused launched a murderous attack on the duo with an axe, severely injuring them. Leaving them soaked in blood, he later absconded from the spot with valuables worth Rs 24,500.

Following the compliant on the survivor, Kalamna police have registered a case under section 397 of IPC and started the probe.
