Nagpur: Reacting to Congress fielding former BJP MP Nana Patole as its candidate from Nagpur constituency for Lok Sabha poll, Union Minister and sitting MP Nitin Gadkari said that “even though Nana Patole left the party my blessings continue to be with him. Nana is young. My blessings are with him. Best wishes to him.”

Patole would now be taking on the BJP stalwart Gadkari in his own turf in Nagpur.

Talking to a news channel in Nagpur, Gadkari said “I will go to people and seek votes on the basis of my work done during last five years. All have the right to fight elections. I will not make personal comments against anybody. Congress has right to decide its candidate. Everybody has right to contest election. I will seek blessings of the people based on my work carried out in the past five years. Even though Nana left BJP it does not mean my blessings are not with him. I have not a kind of enmity in politics. My best wishes are with Nana Patole,” Gadkari said.

After criticising the Prime Minister’s style of functioning, Patole defected to the Congress in December 2017. He had joined the BJP ahead of the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. In 2014, he had won from Bhandara-Gondia Lok Sabha constituency, defeating NCP’s former Union Minister Praful Patel.
