Heatwave warning between May 7-9

Nagpur: The region is expected to be grappling with heat this week as well. The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) has issued a warning stating that districts including Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur and Wardha are expected to witness heatwave between May 7 and May 9. The maximum temperatures at these places is expected to be around 45 degree Celsius.

On Sunday, Brahmapuri was the hottest in the region with a maximum temperature of 44.9 degree Celsius. The department has advised citizens to avoid exposure to heat and dehydration.

“Being exposed to heat for a prolonged period might cause health ailments among vulnerable people like infants, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. Drink sufficient water even if not thirsty. Consume oral rehydration solution (ORS), homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, butter milk, etc to keep yourself hydrated,” RMC stated.
