The bundles were only with real notes on the tops and bottoms. In between only blank paper notes in the shape of bundles were stashed to show as if they were real currency bundles. Bandu then lodged a false or bogus complaint that Rs 52 lakh were robbed by three motorcycle-borne youths.

The conspiracy theory, that could match any Hollywood thriller, in the sensational “Rs 52 lakh dacoity,” the Nagpur Rural Police have cracked the case and also exposed a well-planned plot to deceive or mislead police, and all and sundry.

According to Manoj Sharma, Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural), a man Bandu Ajab Wankhede (40), resident of Ambada, Mouda, along with Laxmibai Bhagwan Mendhe, and other four persons were proceeding towards Kamptee for registry of agriculture land. All the persons were travelling in a Tata Sumo (MH-31/AG 6020). At the same time through midway, three motorcycle borne youths stopped their car and injured Bandu Ajab Wankhede by a knife and threatened other 4 persons at knife point and snatched the bag containing Rs 52 lakh. The Mouda police registered an offence under Sections 394, 34 of IPC after Bandu ladged a complaint in this regard.

Sharma addressing a press conference said, Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede was negotiating a deal to purchase a five acre agriculture land belonging to Kachru Diwalu Meshram (80), a native of Nerla. Bandu had agreed to purchase the land at the rate of Rs 10 lakh per acre. The negotiation process was going on since past four months. Finally, both the parties agreed for sale-purchase on July 8 at Kamptee. However, a sort of problem cropped up. The land sellers wanted to count money and the purchaser party, Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede oppsed the counting of money. The counting and non-counting argument resulted in no deal on that day.
Finally, both the parties agreed for deal on July 18. Accrdingly, Bandu, his son Nitesh hired a Tata Sumo for going to Kamptee. Nitesh’s friend Mangesh Shrawan Bhusari (23), a Shop-keeper, arranged the Suma car. Accordingly, Bandu, his son Nitesh, Bala Ramdas Pelle (27), resident of Ambadi (witness), Avinash Fattuji Kale (22) the Sumo driver proceeded towards Pawardona to pick Kachru Diwalu Meshram (land owner), his daughter Laxmibai Bhagwan Mendhe (50), resident of Pawardona, Shankar Bhagwan Mendhe (24), (Grand-child of land owner). At about 12 noon, all the occupants of Sumo left for Kamptee. However, the midway, three-motorcycle borne youths stopped the car and forcibly snatched the bag containing “Rs 52 lakh” from Laxmibai Bhagwan Mendhe and fled the spot.
THE CONSPIRACY THEORY: The “real Hollywood movie” started from here. The ground reality was that Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede and his son Nitesh wanted to purchase a five-acre land from Fattu Meshram. However, no sufficient money was available with Bandu and his Nitesh. This aspect gave a birth to a conspiracy by the brains of Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede and his son Nitesh. Accordingly, Nitesh asked Mangesh Shrawan Bhusari to arrange for a Tata Sumo car. In return, Mangesh hired a Tata Sumo from Avinash Fattuji Kale and took the car to Bandu according to a well-planned plot. Nitesh also gave a responsibility to Mangesh to carry out a bogus dacoity plan. Mangesh then geared up for “mission fake dacoity” and gathered a gang of his friends Mangesh Gopal Bawankule (19), resident of Wadoda, and Bhushan Kashiram Bawankar (19) and shared the conspiracy theory with them.
The trio, according to the plan, arranged a Hero Honda CD (MH-31/DL 9818), and “robbed Rs 52 lakh” at the point of knife. Sumo driver Avinash Fattuji Kale was also the part of the conspiracy. The witness Bala Ramdas Pelle had also information of the well-planned plot. The conspiracy included hiding of the “looted booty” for two days and return it to Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede. Every conspirer was to receive his share of money.

The PI Rajan Pali, PI MK Taide, PSI Ajay Mankar, PSI Rajesh Kherde, and other policemen carried out the “Operation Expose” under the guidance of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Wankhede.
The entire conspiracy theory was the brainchild of Bandu Ajabrao Wankhede. His plan swallow the land and also the “Rs 52 lakh” proved too big fit his mouth. Police, too, in a best profession way exposed the Hollywood style conspiracy theory.
