Nagpur News: Kicking off the poll campaign across Vidarbha including Nagpur, Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi would be visiting the region on September 21. Though his visit is not officially announced as one for poll purpose, analysts translate the move into Congress strategy for upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Maharashtra.
Gandhi would be touring major districts of Vidarbha to ensure the centrally floated schemes benefit the end user in remote areas. During his visit, he would be emphasizing upon the measures to be enforced in order to streamline various welfare schemes.
Gandhi is understood to rope in senior Congress leaders and party’s office bearers in Nagpur to chalk out future course of action. “Right now his main aim would be to ensure effective implementation of various government run schemes in rural areas of Vidarbha.
It is learnt that some senior leaders in Delhi tipped Gandhi about the rumors being spread by opposition leaders about various government schemes. One such policy being dubbed in negative light by the opposition is National Land Reforms Policy. The opposition has allegedly used this policy to propagate misconception among Vidarbha farmers that those from western part of the region would eventually lose their excess land in the aftermath of this policy, which is not the real thing.
A senior Congress leader in Nagpur on condition of anonymity informed that Gandhi intended to clear air over the rumor being spread regarding this ambitious Congress policy. “Actually this is the only purpose of his Vidarbha tour”, he added.
