Nagpur News: The Nagar Kirtan, a Sikh custom involving the processional singing of holy hymns throughout the community, was taken out today from Baba Budhaji Nagar Gurudwara. The customary Nagar Kirtan is part of the religious ceremony in the month of Baisakh (or Baisakhi) to welcome Gurunanak Birth Anniversary Utsav. The procession consisted breathtaking sword-fighting skills by participants.

Traditionally, the procession is led by the saffron-robed Panj Piare (the five beloved of the Guru), who are followed by the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy Sikh scripture, which is placed on a float. The Nagar Kirtan will conclude at Ramdaspeth Gurudwara with Ardas (prayer).
