Husband, in-laws booked in dowry case

Nagpur News : A 33-year-old woman has filed a case against her husband and in-laws at Dhantoli Police Station for alleged dowry harassment and assault.

Ketan Vipinchand Kurani tied the nuptial knot with Shweta but soon after their marriage, her in-laws started harassing her, demanded dowry, and other valuable items, the complainant alleged. Shweta alleged that her in-laws Vipinchand Kurani, Varshadevi Vipinchand Kurani, Tejal Bhavesh Shriramkar demanded various items on the pretext of some of the other work. The harassment took place between January 27, 2012 and November 30, 2013.

Shweta mentioned in the complaint that her in-laws had taken into possession her ornaments and valuables worth Rs 75,50 lakh, but that did not satisfy the greed of her in-laws. They started torturing her physically and mentally.

Fed up with the torture and continuous demands of her in-laws, Shweta, a resident of Flat No. 104, Indira Apartment, South Ambazari Road, Rahate Colony, filed a complaint with Dhantoli police station.  Cops registered a case under sections 498 (a), 406, 323, 504, 506, and 34 of the IPC. Although no arrests have been made but investigations are in progress.
