Chief Engineer of Power Purchase, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) Ashok Chavan is under the scanner now for corruption.
A formal complaint has been lodged with the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan alleging that Chavan has amassed huge benami property.
Manohar Inamdar, a whistleblower, alleged that Chavan and his wife possess huge properties, particularly land and flats in Yavatmal, Aurangabad and Mumbai. He demanded an immediate high level inquiry against him. Inamdar also sent copies of the letter to the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also holds the energy portfolio, the Chief Secretary and the Energy Secretary of the state in this regard and sought appropriate action against him. It is alleged that his wife, Sunita Ashok Chavan purchased huge property at Kanchanwadi in Aurangabad recently. Some of them were disputed properties and a case is on with the local Sub Divisional Officer. Chavan is now posted in the headquarters of MSEDCL at Mumbai.
