Nagpur News : A 34-year-old Anil Shende, learnt to be a notorious criminal was arrested by Sitabuldi police for allegedly killing security guard Puroshattam Rahulkar, 52,of agriculture college (Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth). Rahulkar’s body was found with slit throat and hands and legs tied in a deserted area near an under construction auditorium near Maharajbagh on Sunday morning.
Shende, a resident of Siraspeth, was rounded-up from his residence under suspicion on Monday morning. His partner in the crime known as Rameshwaram is still at large.
Shende will be produced in the district court on Tuesday.
PI S Y Yernekar told Nagpur Today that Shende and Rameshwaram have many offences of robberies and assault on them. “They also booked for scrap thefts. Shende has confessed that the duo had gone to steal iron rods when Rahulkar caught them and thus they attacked him in rage.”
This was the second time when Rahulkar had caught Shende and Rameshwaram. Around four months before, the duo had gone to rob the iron rods and other scraps but Rahulkar had stopped them.
The assault took place on Saturday early morning while Rahulkar, after completing his night shift at PDKV’s Research centre, was walking towards the auditorium located on the deserted campus. Assailants had slit throat of Rahulkar, tied him up and later dragged him for around 100 metres to the place where he was dumped.
