Nagpur News : The 46th West Zone Sports Meet 2013, organised by Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax, Nagpur, under the aegis of the Central Revenue Sports and Cultural Board (CRSCB) concluded on 15th January 2014. The closure of the event was officially declared by Shri P.V.R. Reddy, Commissioner of Central Excise, Nagpur and President of Organising Committee at Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium, Police Line Takli, Katol Road, Nagpur. Shri Vikram Wani, Joint Commissioner & Organising Secretary and Shri Rituraj Gupta, Deputy Commissioner were prominently present on the occasion.

The sports meet was held on 14th and 15th January, 2014 for sixteen disciplines at various venues across nagpur. Around 500 participants from the Central Excise, Customs, Service Tax and Income Tax Department from the States of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujrat participated in the events. The prominent players participating in the event included International Athlete Krishnakumar Rane from Mumbai who is Silver Medalist in Commonwealth and Asian games, National Champion in 110 mtrs hurdles Shri Sandeep Parmar, International Athlete Balasaheb Nikam, National Athlete Shandersingh Choudhary and ace Athlete from Nagpur Dipak Salodkar. Besides this, the Prominent women Athletes including Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Urmila More from Pune, and International Athletes Snehal Rajput and Surekha Joshi.

Apart from this, the other prominents players included National Ranked Badminton players Neha Pandit, IT Mumbai, Nigel D’Sa of IT, Mumbai, former National no. 3 Asawari Parmar, Chess Players S.S.Soman, Central Excise, Nagpur, Sanjeev Kumar, IT Mumbai and Vinod Bhagwat, C.Ex., Nagpur, Table Tennis Players E.Fernandes, Sanjeev Mehra and Shilpa Joshi. On the occasion, Smt Snehal Rajput of Pune who won Gold Medal in 1500 mtrs Women event spoke on the occasion and appreciated the arrangements made and conduction of the entire events. On behalf of the participants she thanked the Organising Committee.
