Nagpur News : South Eastern Central Railway pipped Dhuanchand Academy 4-3 in tie-breaker to win Senior Division Hockey Tournament which was organised by Vidarbha Hockey Association at its playfield on Wednesday.

During the regulation time, the score was equalised (3-3). In tie-breaker, the railmen scored four goals while their opponents managed to score three.

In the very fourth minute, Saquib Rahim gave the lead to Dhyanchand Academy through field goal. However, his joy was short-lived as in the 10th minute, Imran Sheikh restored parity by perfectly converting penalty corner. After an equaliser, both the teams intensified their attacks in the rival citadel. As a result with just five , minutes remaining for the break, Rahul Kalakoti (30th min) and Wasim Khan (32nd min) struck and gave 3-1 lead to Dhyanchand Academy.

In the second half, the railmen bounced back. In the 43rd minut, Ashok Nande reduced the deficit on An kit Bihari’s pass. Then in the 56th minute, Dalbirsingh scored the goal and levelled the score 3-3. In the remaining 14 minutes, both the teams tried their best to score a winning goal but in vail.

In tie breaker, Mohammad Arif (SECR) and Saquib Rahim (Dhyanchand) converted the opportunities. However, Dhyanchand academy goalie thwarted the attempt of Imran Sheikh. Dhyanchand academy’s Rahul Kalakoti scored the goal and took the lead. In third attempt, Nisaruddin (SECR) and Rahul Kalakoti (Dhyanchand) sounded the board. In the fourth attempt, Kuuldeep Singh scored the goal on fourth attempt while Dhyanchand Academy’s Shrikant Kalakoti missed the target. As a result the score was equalised (3-3).
SECR’s Dalbir Singh didn’t give an opportunity to Dhyanchand goalkeeper and made the equation (4-3). As soon as SECR goalkeeper saved the attempt fo Wasim Khan, there was a jubilation in the railmen’s camp.
