Air India, Red Force win

Nagpur News : Air India and Red Force, Delhi registered wins in the men’s category of Mayors Cup All-India Kabaddi Tournament at Chitnis Park Ground, while Haryana’s Baba Haridas Sangh team was victorious in the women’s category. The competition has been organised in the wake of NMC’s 150th anniversary.

After trailing by one point at the interval, the Air India team rampaged Nagpur Range Police in the second period to seal the match with a score of 33-17.

In the first half, the local outfit had scored 10 points with Air India managing nine. But with the help of some aggressive performances from Ajay Thakur and Deepak Hudda, they put up a strong show in the next half. Ranjit Phale was the lone fighter during the second period but his solitary efforts were not enough to save his team from a crushing defeat.

In another one-sided second match, the Red army dismissed Nagpur’s Maratha Lions 30-15. The attacking display by the Delhi outfit was marshalled by Suresh Kumar and Vinod Kumar. Rohan and Suraj fought a losing battle for the home team. Elsewhere, Sai Gujarat got the better of Gondiya with a commanding scoreline of 34-6. Also, Uttar Pradesh Police beat Kolkata’s Ashoka Club 26-12.
