2 more women lose ‘Mangalsutra’, gold chain

Two more chain-snatching incidents were reported in city on Saturday.

According to police, in the first incident, Gauri Rohit Shivdekar (35), resident of Dindayal Nagar, near Ram Mandir, was returning home on her Activa (MH-31/CX 2410) after attending a marriage ceremony held in Chaitanya Sabhagruh. When Gauri reached in front of Sadguru Furnitures near Jerryl Lawn on West High Court Road, two unidentified youths in the age group of 20-25 years and riding a red-white coloured motorcycle, came from behind and snatched her “Mangalsutra” worth Rs 54,000 and speeded away. The incident occurred at 1300 hours. Gauri immediately reached Pratap Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint against the two youths. Pratap Nagar PSI Tiwari has booked the accused under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and probing the matter further.

In the second incident, Krushna Rajesh Champaneri (Soni) (35), resident of Plot No 151, Nandanvan Colony, Nagpur was returning home on her Activa (MH-49/P 3341) from husband’s shop in Itwari. When Krushna reached near Rajeshwar Farsan on Canal Road under Nandanvan Police Station jurisdiction, two unidentified youths on motorcycle came from behind and snatched her gold chain with locket worth Rs 40,000. Nandanvan PSI Thakur has booked the two accused under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC on Krushna’s complaint and investigating the matter further.
