Nandanvan police have arrested three members of the rival gang who allegedly conspired and subsequently shot dead Gaffar Ali Ramjan Ali (50), brother of hardcore criminal Shamsher, and injured two others in the gang war that erupted on Tuesday evening at Aurangzeb Square in Hasanbagh, Nagpur. The sensational gang war was the bloody fallout of a land dispute raging between the two gangs. Gaffar was riddled with three bullets at point blank range. The arrests were made within hours of the incident.
According to police, the accused Alim Khan Taslim Khan (43), Kalim Khan Taslim Khan (51), residents of Hasanbagh hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Gaffar and others over the property dispute. Other accused Mahfuz Ahmed Qabul Hasan (24) and his one accomplice, acting on the “orders” (Supari) of Alim and Kalim, went to Gaffar’s Tea Canteen, situated at Aurangzeb Square in Hasanbagh, and started indiscriminate firing of bullets. Gaffar was hit by three bullets and died on the spot. Two others – Ibrahim Khan Akbar Khan (44), resident of Hasanbagh and Sanjit Ashok Damahe (18), resident of Giddoba Nagar, Wathoda Layout in Nagpur – also received critical bullet injuries. The injured have been admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital. After killing Gaffar and injuring Ibrahim and Sanjit, both the accused Mahfuz Ahmed Qabul Hasan and his accomplice fled the spot on their motorcycle.
Police launched a massive manhunt for the killers and succeeded in arresting Alim Khan Taslim Khan, Kalim Khan Taslim Khan and Mahfuz Ahmed Qabul Hasan. Cops are yet to arrest the fourth killer.
According to information, Alim Khan and Kalim Khan had a property dispute with Gaffar, a property dealer himself.
Security in the area has been tightened and a large number of policemen have been deployed as tension was apprehended during the last rites of Gaffar that took place on Wednesday. Investigating Officer Datta Dhole, who took charge of the Nandanvan police station recently, has been ensuring thorough investigation into the bloody gang war.
