Nagpur News: The citizens of the Orange City, specifically the kids, young boys and girls, are eagerly waiting the sunrise of Monday the March 17. After getting warmed up by “Holika Dahan” (Holi bonfire), the citizens have put themselves in “Dhulivandan” (Rangpanchami) mode and are ready to go full throttle to cherish every moment of the colour (life) in the best ever ways.
The Holika Dahan was done at hundreds of places in the city. Womenfolk offered “Pujas” with all traditions rituals and sought blessings for happiness and cheerful life for their near and dear ones. Kids went exhilarating with smearing of “Gulal” on the faces of their friends and other people in there respective areas. The Holika Dahan killed the evil and created an atmosphere of victory that was witnessed in the celebrations by one and all in the entire Second Capital City of Nagpur. Holika Dahan also marks starting of summer. “Holi aali, thandi palali.” The Holika Dahan celebrations would continue till the dawn and the dawn will trigger the real celebrations called Dhulivandan.

The Orange City has gone more and more colourful with vivid and vibrant colours Red, Green, Pink, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Golden, even Black but dazzling, and you name it and find it. The festival of Colours, Holi is being celebrated as victory of good over evil. The revellers, in the spirit of Holi message of happiness and blessings of a blissful life ahead as colorful as the colours of Holi.
The ecstatic and excited faces of kids are to be seen to be believed. They have armed themselves with all “weapons” to be used in the riot of colours. Pichkaris, different vivacious colours to splash on their friends and even all the revellers notwithstanding the known or unknown faces, booming “Pungis” (blowers) demon masks, number of colourful and freaky caps, water balloons to be used as grenades or missiles, and other possible materials that would double or treble the joys of celebrating Holi (Dhulivandan).
The markets have also gone abuzz with fascinating colours and making a brisk business as the citizens have thronged the places for purchasing every stuff that would make their Holi a memorable one with every passing year. Not mentioning mouth-watering sweets would make the Holi celebrations pale and listless. Several big and small sweetmeat shoppers are full to the brim with various items to satisfy the customers of their choice. Citizens distribute sweets to guests and even unknown persons as the tradition of Holi celebrations crosses all the barriers of merry. So get ready to have a feast of choicest sweets and yummy “Puranpoli” and tasty stuff including non-veg dishes.
The spirit of Holi celebrations must be matched by the spirit, of course, by a specific group of revellers. The “Cheers” sound would echo in every corner of the Orange City. The liquor shops and wine bars would also be in the service of the specific Holi enjoyers.
However, the bottom line is: Play safe. Don’t spoil spirit of Holi celebrations of others and yourselves, too. Forget the bitter past and begin the era afresh with harmony and brotherhood.
Tight security by police will be in place in order to ensure peaceful and decent celebrations. The police have issued an advisory with several tips to avoid any untoward incidents.
