In yet another major crackdown within a week, sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau nabbed two junior engineers of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) while taking a bribe of 5,000. The accused are Sushil Sahastrabuddhe (32), a resident of Vidyut Vihar Colony, and Rajkumar Gajbhiye (40) from Laxmi Nagar.
According to information here, the complainant in the case owned a plot at Bokhara, Ram Nagar. An electricity pole had been erected on the plot apart from a low tension wire that was running over the plot.
The complainant wanted to construct a house on the land and so, applied for removal of the pole at the Mankapur divisional office. After submitting the application, the complainant received a phone call from Sahastrabuddhe. The latter informed the complainant that he would forward the application to Gajbhiye and it would cost the complainant15,000. Sahastrabuddhe told the complainant that administrative cost out of the total amount was just 2,000 whereas the remaining would be pocketed by him and Gajbhiye.
Sahastrabuddhe asked the complainant to pay 5,000 advance, while the remaining amount was to be paid after the completion of the work. The complainant was called with the bribe amount on June 21.
The complainant was reluctant to pay bribe and informed the ACB about the matter. After verifying the complaint. the ACB laid a trap. The accused called the complainant with the amount to a restaurant at Zero Mile on Sunday evening. The ACB sleuths had already reached the spot. As soon as the complainant handed over the bribe amount to the accused, the ACB sleuths nabbed both the junior engineers.
