A woman has been alleged of stealing valuables worth Rs 7.40 lakh from her friend’s house in Dupare Layout here where she used to visit regularly. Sonegaon police have booked the woman in question and started their investigations. Gautam Kisanrao Bhatkar (36), a resident of plot No. 98, Dupare layout, informed the police that his wife’s friend visited their house regularly and spent most of her time in their house. Gautam needed money and when he checked the almirah where gold jewellery and cash Rs 5 lakh was kept, he was shocked to find that the valuables worth Rs 7.40 lakh were missing from almirah. Gautam said that the theft possibly took place sometime around July 3. Gautam, on his suspicion over his wife’s friend, asked her if had taken the valuables. But she gave lame answers which strengthened Gautam’s suspicion.
Gautam lodged a complaint against the alleged woman with Sonegaon police. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 380 of the IPC against the woman and started their investigation.
