In a stunning incident, two criminals attacked two policemen with sharp-edged weapons with the sole intention of killing them. The attack took place in the dead of night on Sunday. The two cops received serious injuries in the audacious attack. However, the goons were yet to be arrested.
According to police, the two police constables Rajesh Madhavrao Tenguriya (38) and Subhash Ramchandra Jangle (57), attached to Yashodhara Nagar Police Station, were on patrol duty. When both the policemen were proceeding toward Jain Kabrastan (Crematorium) through a narrow lane at about 0130-0200 hours of Sunday, the two accused Sonu alias Sheikh Wasim and Sheikh Adil attacked them with lethal Kukri-like weapon with the sole motive of eliminating them. Both the cops anyhow managed to save themselves from the vicious attack but received serious injuries.

Yashodhara Nagar PSI Baghele, acting on the complaints lodged by both the policemen, booked the accused Sonu alias Sheikh Wasim and Sheikh Adil under Sections 307, 333, 34 of the IPC and Sub-Sections 4+25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act. Police have launched a massive hunt to nab both the accused.
However, the attack conclusively indicates the poor law and order situation prevailing in the Second Capital City of Nagpur and dare-devilry on the part of anti-social elements who don’t hesitate to even attack policemen themselves.
