One more Pravin is likely to be appointed to the top position. Pravin Dixit could be the next Director General of Police. All the three Pravins had stint in Nagpur, the hometown of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“What is in a name?” the answer to this simple question could be sought from the new Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Or at least he can elaborate it in his own style. The question is in the context of a particular name the Chief Minister, it appears, is “warmly attached” or “fond of” or “gives importance.” The name is Pravin.

Chief Minister Fadnavis, soon after taking charge, effected a minor reshuffle of bureaucrats and brought some officials into his ‘Core Committee.’ In the first major decision, Pravin Darade was appointed as Chief Minister’s Secretary. Darade had a very successful stint as Nagpur District Collector and Chairman of Nagpur Improvement Trust. Pravin Darade had also played a crucial role in the ‘Bhoomipujan’ of Nagpur Metro Rail at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pushed the project on fast-track. However, soon after the programme, Pravin Darade was unceremoniously transferred to Pune as Member Secretary of of Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) sheer for political reasons. However, the ‘discarded’ IAS official has joined Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as Secretary in CMO.
Another Pravin found his place as a close aide to Chief Minister Fadnavis. The Chief Secretary of Forest Department Pravin Pardeshi on Wednesday (November 5) was appointed Principal Secretary to CM Fadnavis. Pravin Pardeshi was frequently visiting Nagpur as the Headquarters of Forest Department is based in the city. Pravin Pardeshi had also served as Divisional Commissioner of Amravati.
Now, there are reports that one more Pravin will be in the Chief Minister’s ‘Core Committee’ of top officials. Pravin Dixit is likely to be appointed as the next Director General of Police. Pravin Dixit was also Police Commissioner of Nagpur before his appointment as Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau in the State.
All the three ‘Pravins’ had, at a time or another, served in Nagpur, the hometown of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
