Arrested accused sent to PCR till November 15. Four juveniles, part of the vandalizing mob, detained, too.

Nagpur.

Police on Thursday arrested eight of the accused and also detained four juveniles on the charges of attacking the office of Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar in Nagpur and damaging computers, glass doors, windows, infrastructure, furniture and fixtures and other property including expensive cars parked in the premises. Cops have secured Police Custody Remand (PCR) of the accused till 15.11.2014 after producing them in a court. A hunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.

The eight arrested accused have been identified as Ashish Virendra Rathod (26), resident of Kunjilalpeth, Nikhilesh Dilip Wase (22), resident of Hudco Colony, Christopher alias Bunty Ignicious Martin (21), resident of Martin Nagar, Darshan Laxmiprasad Shrivastav (21), resident of Avasthinagar, Martin al;ias Golu Godsy Anthony (24), resident of Martin Nagar, Mithun Martin Peter (26), resident of Martin Nagar, Tambi Bablu Gabrol (21), resident of Martin Nagar and Montu Fransis Peter (20), resident of Martin Nagar, all in Nagpur. The identity of the four detained juveniles has not been revealed in accordance with the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000.

On Wednesday, a mob of vandals, armed with Hockey sticks, stones, iron rods, lathis had barged into the Dainik Bhaskar office and ravaged all the computers, glass doors, windows, infrastructure, furniture and fixtures and other property. The mob, apart from office property, had targeted and damaged many high-end cars parked in the premises. The goons, hurt allegedly by a news report carried by the Hindi daily, had collectively ransacked property worth Rs 1,27,00,000. The rampaging goons had also misbehaved with female staffers and assaulted some other employees with the lethal arms. During the attack, two laptops and two mobiles worth Rs 50,000 belonging to employees were also stolen by the mob of miscreants. Moreover, the policemen who had rushed to the spot were heckled by the vandals led by the mastermind. Imambada police had booked accused under Sections 143, 144, 147, 148, 149, 452, 353(A)(2), 395, 307, 332, 427 of the IPC.
