Nagpur News: There seems to be sudden spurt in the burglary cases across length and breadth of the Orange City. A minute browsing through the crime diary gives an idea about how the number of thefts has been in the uprising mode for over 30 days. More than 100 theft cases have been registered at various police stations during the last month, however, few of them are resolved. With the increasing house breaks, chain snatching and robbery at different places, the role of police is under scanner as the cops are still beating about the bush in most of the cases. Police is still groping in the dark regarding the recent robbery of Rs 1.50 crore near railway station.

Even though serious security concerns have been posed before the citizens, the police is allegedly been operating in connivance with the criminals. The callous attitude towards attending the piling theft cases is the clear indicator of the doubt. The police inaction in recent burglary at the house of Indrapal alias Rajju Shahu, who along with his sons was booked for attacking ex-mayor and corporator Kishore Dorle, further confirms the doubt over the inefficiency of the cops.

Last night itself, three different places under Sadar, Panchpaoli and Dhantoli police stations were reportedly stormed by the thieves, resulting in the burglary to the tune of around Rs 2 lakhs. The first incident is however different, in which a woman stole away the jewellery worth Rs 82,000 on the pretext of asking for more designs at Tanishq showroom located on Kingsway. The woman even purchased gold jewellery worth Rs 2,77,925. She asked the sales girl at the counter to show more designs. While the sales girls went to look for the desired designs, the woman slipped away with a ladies ring and bangles worth Rs 82,000. Police registered the case under section 379 against the woman on the complaint received from showroom representative Vikram Gokhale. However. police is still finding it hard to establish the crime.

Police filed the crime against Nandu under section 380, however, he is yet to be traced.

Meanwhile in Dhantoli, around the same time two unidentified youths snatched away the wallet of an elderly woman who was walking towards home from her friend’s house.
