Nagpur: Two goons, who extorted money from a medical shop owner at knife point and tried to escape, were caught by people nearby and handed over to police. The incident occurred in most busy area near Medical College Square on Tuesday night.
The medical shop owner Vinod Chandrabhan Dombre (32), resident of Flat No. 302, Priya Apartment, Chhota Tajbagh, was in his R X Medical Shop, beside Gangour Hotel, Medical Square. Around 11.15 pm on Tuesday, the two accused Palash Prakash Wasnik (19) and Akshay Ashok Jagdish (23), both residents of Rambagh, arrived at Vinod’s shop. The accused whipped out a knife and demanded Rs 2000 as extortion money or else he will be killed. The accused lifted a laptop kept at the counter and threatened to smash it. Scared to the core, Vinod immediately handed over Rs 2000 to the two extortionists. However, when the two accused were escaping the spot, Vinod shouted for help. Hearing his shouts, people nearby chased the two accused and succeeded in catching them. After a sound thrashing the two extortionists were handed over to Ajni police who had reached the spot after being informed about the incident.
Ajni API Gawande registered an offence against the accused Palash Wasnik and Akshay Jagdish under Sections 386, 504, 34 of IPC and arrested them.
(1), 506 of IPC read with Sections 3, 4, 8, 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and arrested him.
